2014 Wild West Comedy Festival LIneup

  • Aziz Ansari Aziz Ansari Aziz Ansari is one of the biggest stars in the comedy world. Rolling Stone labeled him “the funniest man under 30." Last November, his much anticipated third hour-long stand-up special Buried Alive debuted on Netflix. The special was named one of the best standup specials of the year by The Onion AV Club and Paste Magazine. Ansari co-stars opposite Amy Poehler in the beloved Emmy-nominated NBC series Parks and Recreation, now in its sixth season. Ansari has landed a book deal with The Penguin Press about modern dating.  He’s also kept busy in the film world. He was the voice of Mub in Twentieth Century Fox’s animated hit film Epic; made a cameo in This Is The End; and starred in the action comedy 30 Minutes or Less and Universal’s Funny People. Additional film credits include Get Him to the Greek, I Love You, Man, Observe and Report, and Ice Age: Continental Drift.

    Egyptian-American Ahmed Ahmed is an actor, comedian, producer, director and the best ambassador of comedy you’ll ever meet! Ahmed is a regular on the TBS hit comedy show Sullivan and Son.  He recently directed, co-produced and appears in Just Like Us, a documentary that follows a group of critically acclaimed, international stand-up comedians as they perform throughout the Middle East in an effort to break down barriers and encourage cross-cultural dialogue. Ahmed has appeared in films including Iron Man; Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Comedy Show - 30 Days & 30 Nights, Hollywood to the Heartland; You Don't Mess With The Zohan; and Swingers; and on television in Tracey Takes On; Roseanne; JAG; Comedy Central's Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn; and MTV's PUNK'D. He co-founded and performed in Comedy Central’s global Axis of Evil Tour. He can be seen this summer in Danny Green’s musical film Revival! Ahmed was the winner of the first annual Richard Pryor Award for ethnic comedy at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival in Scotland.

  • Bill Burr Bill Burr

    Bill Burr is an American comedian or a comedian from the North American Union, depending on when you read this. He grew up outside of Boston, Massachusetts and did fairly poorly in school, despite the fact that he applied himself. Having first gained notoriety for his recurring role on the second season of Chappelle’s Show, Bill developed a comedic style of uninformed logic that has made him a regular with Letterman, Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Fallon. Bill released his third hour special, You People Are All The Same, for download through his website or on Netflix. He has played to audiences around the world to rave reviews. Bill had a recurring role in Breaking Bad; guest starred on Fox TV’s The New Girl and appeared in the Kroll Show. He can be seen in the 2013 comedy film The Heat, as well as, in Stand Up Guys and Date Night.  One of the most popular comedy podcasts, Bill’s Monday Morning Podcast, is an off-the-cuff weekly rant that has become a fan favorite. Bill began the podcast in May of 2007 and has produced over 250 episodes.

Since he first performed in public, Dick has been a comedian and civil rights activist whose social satire changed the way white Americans perceived African American comedians. Dick entered the national comedy scene in 1961 when Chicago's Playboy Club (as a direct request from publisher Hugh Hefner) booked him as a replacement for white comedian, 'Professor' Irwin Corey.   • Demetri Martin Demetri Martin

    Demetri Martin rose to relative obscurity when he started doing stand-up comedy in New York City at the end of the 20th Century. Later he became a writer at Late Night with Conan O’Brien and then a regular performer on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. In 2003, Demetri won the Perrier Award at the International Fringe Festival for his first one-man show, If I. He released a comedy album called These Are Jokes and then created and starred in his own television series called Important Things with Demetri Martin. His first stand-up comedy special, Demetri Martin. Person is considered by many to be his longest and only hour-long stand-up comedy special. Martin has appeared in movies as an actor, most recently in Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion and most lengthily in Ang Lee’s Taking Woodstock. His first book, This Is a Book by Demetri Martin is a New York Times Bestseller. Demetri has brown hair, and he is allergic to peanuts. Novak is an actor and writer best known for his work on the long- running and Emmy award-winning comedy, “The Office.” In addition to starring as Ryan, B.J. served as an executive producer of the series, as well as one of its most frequent writers and directors.   • Nick Swardson Nick Swardson Every so often, a comedian comes along who emerges as a triple threat:  comedian, actor and writer/producer.  Nick Swardson is one of the most exciting artists to have taken on this role.  Most recently, Nick performed in Grown Ups 2 and Grown Ups. The road to success has been a steady climb for Swardson, who started his career in St. Paul/  Minneapolis, then on to New York and  Los Angeles, where he first struck feature success in writing Warner Bros.
